Welcome Back!

8/10/2014

Welcome back to school and the CKTV Media Productions Class!  I hope you're excited as I am to begin the new year as we have a lot to do in the coming months.  We're starting our blogs this week so for all you newbies, everyone is responsible for writing two blog posts per week by Sunday night.  You can write them anytime in the week as long as it gets done by Sunday night.  Procrastination is a grade killer in this class so get these posts done early and don't wait until the last minute.  You will need to write one blog post based on the topic I provide each week.  For my topics, you are required to write them in the constructed response format.  What is that you say?  Well, basically you need to write 5 paragraphs on my topic.  The first paragraph is your introduction.  Here you will state the topic that I've given you and briefly answer the question.  In the second paragraph, you'll write about the first reason that backs up your statement.  For example, if the topic given was, "What are the top three things you are looking forward to this year?", then your first paragraph would be to list all three briefly.  Then your second paragraph would state the first thing you are looking forward to.  The third paragraph would state the second thing you are looking forward to.  The fourth paragraph would state the third thing you are looking forward to.  Finally, the last paragraph would restate all three answers again in a conclusion.  Go check the blogs of our returning students to see how they wrote it last year.

Your second blog post can be written about anything you want to as long as it relates to media.  You could write about your first week in media or the media camp in the summer if you went to it.  You could write about the cool movie you saw over the weekend and write a review about it.  It can be about anything as long as it relates to media in some way.  For this blog, you have to write a full paragraph.  How long does it have to be?  As long as it needs to be to fully write about your topic.  Here's a hint though.....the more you write, the better your blog will probably be which should equal a better grade.

Are you ready for the first topic?  For your first blog post of the week, I'd like you to tell me about your first week of school.  Was it a positive week, a so-so week, or a negative week?  Explain with three reasons to back up your answer.  Good luck!
