Summer Goals

5/16/2016

This will be the last week of blogs/vlogs for this school year.  Hooray!  For your last blog topic of the year, I'd like you to think about what goals you are going to set for yourself to improve in some way over the summer.  As a teacher, I use my summers to adjust my teaching.  I am always looking for ways to make the class better and this summer will be no different.  I've been taking notes along the way this year and I've come up with a pretty decent sized list of things that I want to do differently next school year.  One thing I want to change is the way we do our first quarter projects.  What is that all about?  You'll just have to come to our summer media camp to find out.  :)

For you, I'd like you to think of three ways you are going to improve in media over the summer.  What three things do you feel you need the most help in or what skills do you think you need to get better at and how will you achieve this?  I want three specific goals you are going to set for yourself and I want to know what you will be doing to improve them.  I also don't want to hear anything like, "I'm not going into media next year so I can't think of anything."  Media skills can help you in ANY class you take next year so that excuse won't work with me.

As for your second blog/vlog, here's an idea you can use if you are not returning next year.  You can create a last will and testament.  A will is something that states who gets your belongings when you die.  Now please don't take this the wrong way and think that I think that you all will die soon.  Absolutely not!  A last will can also be used for situations like this in which someone is leaving the class and won't be back.  They will give things to classmates like their sense of humor or their editing skills.  It's fun and you can make it humorous (as long as you don't make anyone feel bad) but it only works for those students not coming back.  So if you are a returning student to media next year, you can't do a last will until your last year here.  Good luck!
