How is your team progressing on your Kaua'i Grown responsibilities? Despite our meetings in class, I still do not see things being completed or posted in Basecamp and I do not understand why. I am also not seeing daily check-ins as I've asked you to do. From now on, your ticket out the door before you leave for advisory and advanced media is to complete your check-in if you worked on anything for Kaua'i Grown.
Are YOU taking care of YOUR responsibilities? For this week's blog post I want you to write about whether or not you are fulfilling your responsibilities. I'm talking about creating your posts in Basecamp, completing your daily check-ins, and anything else related to this project. I want you to list three examples backing up your answer. If you say yes, you are doing your job then give me three examples why. If you are not, then I want at least three reasons why not. This is your 4th quarter project people! We are not messing around with the last quarter of the school year! We have a lot of work that needs to get done before we exit for the summer so let's get on it!

For this week's blog topic, I'd like you to think about our class and all that we have to do within the school year. Think of all of your responsibilities, opportunities, and the many things that are learned. I'd like you to write about three specific things that this class has helped you with outside of our class. For example, if you want to say that media has taught you how to edit in FCP X, well, how has that helped you OUTSIDE of this class? Do you now edit videos for your church, other classes, or in scouting? How have you taken what you've learned in media and applied it to other areas of your life? List at least three things AND explain how they have helped in these other areas.
Let's get a head start on the end of year activities by thinking about what video we want to share at our family night. Tell me about the videos you are thinking of using and see if you can choose one this week. Then tell me three reasons why you chose it to show to our families. Let's make the deadline on this post gang! #good2great
We recently returned from a 13 day trip to Nashville and Boston. We got to experience this year's STN Convention, bring home a few awards, make some new friends, and play in some SNOW!!! Overall I think it was a great trip but I want to hear what YOU thought about it.
What were your highlights of this year's trip and why? Were there any low points and if so, how did they help you? Think back to what you learned. What knowledge did you gain from the trip? Also think about what you learned about yourself and your classmates. Go deep and really think about this before you begin. I'm looking for a thoughtful reflection. I look forward to reading them! It's a new quarter and that means.....new goals! What are your goals for the new quarter? What did you not do so well last quarter that you want to improve on in this quarter? Is there something you want to learn how to do better? List three goals along with how you plan to reach them in this 3rd quarter.
With Thanksgiving this week and the holidays right around the corner, what are you thankful for? Think of at least three things to share and remember to write them in the constructed response format.
I am thankful for having all of you here in our advanced class. I think Friday's session went well because no matter how you did, you all still learned something which will help make future practices better. I also appreciate all of the work you put in daily on the morning announcements and radios each week. You all rock! Have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy the days off from school! We've now been in school for more than a quarter and you've had some time to assess how things have been going. We've had many changes this year to our advanced class, from having zero 6th graders to only having 13 students. Many students left last year and because of that we've all had to take on more work to get the same things done, like our morning announcements and radios. How do you feel about all of this? How does this year compare to last year? Better? Worse? Same? What else can we all do to make things better? Let me know what you think about how things are going and be sure to tell me why. Focus on three things to write about and be sure you write your blog in the constructed response format with an intro, three paragraphs about your three things you'll talk about, and then a conclusion. If you vlog, about it, make sure you still follow that format in what you talk about.
You can win a trip to New York City in this PSA contest sponsored by Scholastic! All you need is a good idea and a script/shot list! If you win, you'll be flown to NYC where it will be filmed professionally.
Check this website for more info. What are you new goals for the new quarter? What do you want to improve? Is it getting better at your b-roll shots? Morning announcements? Decide on one thing you want to get better at and list three things you can do to achieve this goal.
With our smaller class this year, what has been the toughest challenge for you individually to deal with? Do you feel the work is more, the same, or less than last year? For sure we have more Inside Scoops to do. That's easy to figure out. But how is the rest of the work? I've tried to give a few of you teams of 3 this year to help with projects. Has that made any difference for you? Give me your honest feedback on how the workload has been so far in the first quarter.
